Moore & Sons is a Hampshire family firm. Derek Moore has spent over forty years in the building trade — and taught his sons the same way he learned it. Between them they cover groundworks, bricklaying, landscaping, driveways and carpentry.
Derek Moore has been in the building trade for over forty years — City & Guilds trained, Apprentice of the Year, and time served the hard way on foundations, drainage and structural work across Hampshire.
Moore & Sons is exactly what the name says. Derek taught his sons the trade the same way he learned it: on site, properly, with someone standing over them until it was right. Between them they now cover groundworks, bricklaying, landscaping, driveways and carpentry.
Because the firm comes from a construction background rather than a gardening one, every project is approached the way a builder would approach it — sun paths, drainage falls, ground conditions and access all considered before a single slab is laid. That means better decisions, fewer problems later, and outdoor spaces that perform as well as they look.
Derek came into the trade through a full apprenticeship, qualifying City & Guilds and being named Apprentice of the Year — the foundation everything since has been built on.
Over forty years of foundations, drainage, structural brickwork and hard landscaping across Hampshire — from single garden walls to large new-build developments.
Each of the sons learned the trade alongside Derek before going out on their own — Charlie in building and bricklaying, Derek Jr in resin driveways, and Isaac in carpentry and property maintenance.
Moore & Sons brings it all under one roof. One number to call, one firm accountable for the job, and the right tradesman for the work — whether that's a patio, a garden wall, a driveway or a new set of doors.
Most landscapers design for photographs. We design for how your garden actually works — how water moves across it, how you move through it, how it behaves in Hampshire's wet winters and dry summers.
Sun paths. Drainage falls. Access routes. Ground conditions. Clay pockets and chalk sub-soils that vary street by street across Botley, Eastleigh and Winchester. We factor all of this in before the first spade goes in the ground.
The result is outdoor spaces that look right because they're built right — from the foundations up, not from the surface down.
Every project is designed and built to stay level, drain freely and look good for decades — not just for the first summer.
We arrive when we say we will, communicate at every stage and leave your property clean and safe at the end of every working day.
No vague estimates. Every quote is itemised in writing. You know exactly what you're getting and exactly what it costs.
Every job goes to a Moore or to a tradesman we've worked with for years. Nobody turns up on your property that we don't vouch for.
