Decking and Timber Repairs in Hampshire
Most decking does not need replacing. A few soft boards, a wobbly handrail or a rotten step makes a whole deck feel finished, but the frame underneath is often perfectly sound. Replacing the failed parts costs a fraction of a rebuild.
What we repair
- Damaged and rotten boards — lifted and replaced, matched to the existing boards as closely as the timber allows
- Handrails, balustrades and spindles — a loose handrail on a raised deck is a genuine hazard, not a cosmetic issue
- Steps — the part that takes the most wear and rots first
- Joists and bearers — where the frame itself has gone, usually at the ends where water sits
- Fascias, trims and edging
When it is worth rebuilding instead
If the frame is going in several places, if the deck was never ventilated underneath, or if it sits directly on soil with no airflow, repairs become a treadmill. We will say so. There is no sense charging you twice for the same job in three years.

It is not the rain that finishes decking, it is timber that never dries out — shade, poor airflow underneath, and leaves left to compost on the surface over winter. Where we can improve the ventilation while making the repair, we will, because that is what buys the extra years.
