How we install it

The existing surface is excavated out, a compacted sub-base is laid and levelled, a weed membrane goes down, and the grass is laid, joined and secured with the pile running consistently. Joins done properly are invisible; done badly they are the first thing anyone notices. Infill is brushed in to weight the pile and keep it standing.

Drainage is the part to get right

On the clay soils common around Botley, Hedge End and Eastleigh, water has to go somewhere. Without a permeable base and a route away, artificial grass sits on a puddle and smells in summer. We plan drainage before anything is laid.

An honest word

Artificial grass is not right for every garden. If you have decent light and reasonable soil, a real lawn is cheaper, better for wildlife and — with the right preparation — less trouble than people expect. We will tell you if that is the better answer for your garden.
